Mario's Story
Okay so after I graduated from HS, I started out at Johnston and Wales and transferred into New England Culinary Institute with advanced placement. After that, I found myself at the end of a road trip in Raleigh, NC. Started working for others, found out I rocked and had what I have fondly referred to as my "entrepreneurial seizure". I started my own gig as a personal chef, bringing all my cookware into my clients homes and when I had more people who wanted me to cook for them than I could handle, I started working out of a commercial kitchen and managing a killer staff- now actually I'm running an Apprentice Program and training the next team! I work with the NC Food Bank with a kid¿s cafe to help kids get a break into the culinary world as well. I have two beautiful daughters- Emily is now 8 and Lila ...Expand for more
is 5 and I am married to the love of my life, Darcy, who I met here in NC. She runs Chef Mario's Inc with me and I have met my match. Without her, none of this would be possible. In my sporadic downtown, right now we¿re really into Guitar Hero (and my biggest challenge is trying to beat my wife at it...she's GOOD!). You may see my face on a Power Tax commercial (and that's Darcy, by the way) as we just beat a $140,000 tax audit for $20,000 and became the new spokespeople. That was pretty cool :) We have a ton of rescued animals that we care for including 2 labs, 2 cats, 3 tanks of fish (okay we bought those) a chinchilla and an Eclectus Parrot named Basil. I guess that's about it! Oh if you want more dirt on my business, here¿s the website and a current pic of me and my shiny bald head! chefmariodotcom
