Mark's Story
Life
Right now, I'm a news writer at WBBM AM radio part-time. I've been in the area most of the time since graduation, with a nine-year period when I lived and worked in radio in Southern California. I've also done some public access television, but it's been a while since I've had any involvement with that. I'm in the northwest suburbs...Itasca, to be exact, just a few minutes south of the Woodfield Shopping Mall. I moved out to this area several years ago from Skokie, first to Hanover Park, then to Itasca in February of 2006. I'm not married, in case you're wondering, and don't have any kids.
Workplace
I've mostly been working in the radio broadcasting industry, but have also had other jobs along the way, including ten years with a mobile DJ and Videotaping service. I am still working part time in radio, writing news for WBBM A...Expand for more
M. I also work part time as a baggage screener for the Transportation Security Administration at O'Hare. I'm also working with a karaoke-DJ company a few nights a week....so I keep fairly busy!
Military
I spent six years in the Air Force Reserves, stationed at O'Hare, from 1971 to 1977. I got in after graduating high school, and did my basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, then did some other training for the job I would be doing at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. It was one weekend a month, and two weeks in the summer of activity. We never went anywhere interesting for the two weeks in the summer. However, I WAS able to ride along when our air crews were flying some missions for training, and got the chance to visit some other cities, like New Orleans, Atlanta, and Cocoa Beach, Florida.
