Mark's Story
Life
Hi, I left C.B. West in 1981 and after a year in the workforce (construction & various food service jobs) I joined the United States Marine Corps with my best friend Greg Crance. I attended a high school in Irvine Ca. during my first year in the Marines to finish the classes that I needed to graduate. McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach Ca. hired me the day after I got out of the Service in 1986. I have been with MDC (now Boeing) for 21 years. The first three years with the company I was a mechanic on the MD-80 jetliner. Then I worked my way through Engineering school while supporting three different aircraft production lines as a Quality Assurance Inspector. rned a B.S. degree in Professional Aeronautics. Competition being tough in the field of Aviation, I decided that I could survive another few years of study. While working as an Engineer on the C-17 Military Transport Aircraft, I aquired an advanced degree in management at the Graziadio School of business (Pepperdine MBA). My wife (Darla) and I just celebrated our seventeenth wedding anniversary. We have three boys. The children are Jordan, age 16; Ian, age 15; and Andrew, age 7. That's pretty much the story of my life excluding a few side adventures...

High School Crush? I think that would have been Karen Heck. She used to call my name from across the classroom in front of everyone... kinda like, "Mark Holkey... Mark Holkey..." I was too shy to respond... probably just sitting there looking like I wanted to hide... (HA!!!)

Girlfriend: Linda Taylor
After-School Job: Busing tables and washing dishes at the uptown Ice-Cream parlor (I don't remember the name of the place)
