Mark R.'s Story
Life
Well, after 9 years in the corporate world, I decided to finally leave, and do something I really wanted to do. With the tragedy of 9/11, I thought it was time to give back to my country, and I joined the United States Air Force. I left for Basic Military Training on May 21st, 2002, and here I am, "loving every minute of it" in the United States Air Force. I can't explain how good the feeling of patriotism is, to put on my uniform every morning, and go out to the flight line to serve my country, helping with the mission. I wish I would have done this right out of high school. I have never ever felt prouder of a job, than I do about the one that I have today. I absolutely love it here! 2 overseas deployments down thus far, and here I am back at McGuire as 2007 approaches! "Lovin' every minute of it!"
Military
Well, here I am at McGuire AFB, NJ now, and loving every minute of it. When I first got my assignment to McGuire, I was disappointed, because I heard nothing...Expand for more
but bad things about the base, other than that we had one of the most state of the art and newest POL facilities in the Air Force. Now that I am here, I have to say that our shop is great, with an awesome management team, and the base itself is much nicer than I had expected. The surrounding area leaves a lot to be desired. Wrightstown, Browns Mills, and Pemberton are pretty damn ghetto, and it seems as though you have to drive 45 minutes to get to anything. But a 1/2 hour away you have Philadelphia and Princeton, 45 minutes away you have Atlantic City, and an hour away you have New York City. What more could a Chicago boy want? More importantly, I met my soulmate since I got here, Pam, and we are currently living in Bordentown. I love her to death, and I am so thankful that I got this assignment. Had I got stationed elsewhere, I would be missing out on so much from a personal level, and my love life/romance would not be where it is today. I am truly grateful! Stay tuned!
