Mark's Story

I moved to Austin from Lex,KY in the mid 60's. Went to Wooten elem for a year or so then did 6th grade at brand new Wooldridge elem. I then used to ride the Ugly bus (old grey busses in those days) to Burnet or just save the bus money for a comic book and ride my bike to school. I lived down the street from Lanier and when my family moved back to Lex I begged them to let me stay in Austin with the neighbors. But they didnt of course and I ended up at big ol' Lafayette. Does anyone remember the pranks of the Purple Shadow at Lafayette - the Purple Shadow never got caught! I am well traveled, Europe and South Asia. I like outdo...Expand for more
or sports, did a bike ride from San Fran Golden Gate bridge to Calabasas, CA in 5 days. I used to kayak alot, several trips to Baja. I ran 7 marathons in 2 years but dont do that now! I like to write, paint, drink coffee, an occasional cigar. My favorite author is Hemingway, but now I want to read Henry Miller. et al et al I love to dance and can really put a sweat on. I work as an engineer but it doesnt define me, its my living. I loved my childhood in Austin. I am a fan of the Longhorns football(used to have Happy Fellahs autograph), KY Wildcats basketball(watched UK beat David Robinson and Navy), and Dallas NFL - for life.
