Mark's Story
Life
First, wander over to moc.dnywryvyr (reversed to pass the censors). Once there, hover over "Gwinn High School" in the left panel to bring up the submenu for a blast from the past and a real "Who's Who," then pass the word. Sue (Canterberry) Koop has a '73 pic page that's available from the submenu, too; check her pages out--I'm in love again!!!
Let's see, at one time there were five chillin's livin' in the household, then my number two daughter (my wife's step) went to live with her mom in Iowa back in 2000. That would be Moniqua--Niki. She graduated HS nearly a year early and went to work in a SuperValu supermarket before finding a professional position working with an insurance company in Des Moines. She married in December 2004, but not before her older sister, Melissa--Missy (wife's step), tied the knot with her HS beau in May 2003.
Missy's husband is Air Force and they were stationed at Nellis AFB just outside Las Vegas. Was a toot visiting with them as often as we did considering we're not more than four hours outside LV in SoCal. He was an imagery spec, but cross-trained into contracting and was transferred to Fairchild AFB outside of Spokane, WA. She was working othodontics in LV, and was able to find a similar job in Spokane within a couple of weeks. We'll be visiting with them in January 2005 when our oldest son (my step) formally ties the knot (he hitched through a JP in 2004).
He's still Air Force after his first assignment on Okinawa with two 180-day TDYs to Iraq and then to Kyrgyzstan Air Base in the former USSR before rotating stateside to Altus AFB in Oklahoma. His wife Jamie is expecting, so wife and I are traveling this August (that would be 2005) to help them set up a bedroom. The baby's due in October.
Our other number two daughter (step to me) announced her intentions to commit marriage in December this year at a resort in Las Vegas. She wants a small wedding (thank ...Expand for more
the Lord for having mercy on my wallet; one wedding in May 2003, another in December 2004, and now this one in December 2005). Her intended currently works in an Albertsons supermarket, but is looking to serve in the Air Force after they get hitched.
Our youngest son (her step) is looking forward to being a HS sophomore this year. He's continuing football, and pleased that his coach moved him in from wide receiver to tackle due to some key plays he made last season. He's got his sights set on the AF Academy, so he's getting into Student Council this coming year and will begin a letter campaign to the Congressional reps, the academy, and the Pentagon looking for information--really, to get his name in the spotlight. He took a year off from the annual National Junior Youth Leadership Conference, in part because I sent him to the Congressional Youth Presedential Leadership conference this past January to participate in the inauguration of President Bush. He'll pick the regular conference back up next summer.
My wife, ah, second wife--that be Debbie--is looking forward to later this year when Countrywide lays off an entire division. She is looking to a couple of months reprieve before rejoining the workforce to really go through the house (closets, garage, clothes--things of that nature). She calls that a reprieve?
I'm still with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics in Palmdale, CA, jetting around the country about once a month--usually to the D.C. area. IT and data security remain my profession, what with helping the government teach basic network security skills to practitioners around the nation. We continue living in Rosamond, gateway to Edwards AFB and the Flight Test Development Center.
If you're in the area, give a holler and come over for a cookout and swim. We'd love to have you for company. Who knows, we might even get a louvered patio up over the pool; water's nice this time of year in 110* heat.
