Marti's Story
Life
After graduating from KHS I went on to CMSU in Warrensburg, MO and graduated with a B.S. in Education. I decided to venture into the Apparel Industry instead of teaching Junior High and High School. I was a Retail Buyer for The Jones Store Co. and then for Macy's in Kansas City. Later I was a Buyer for Famous-Barr in St. Louis before moving to the "other side of the fence".
I moved to San Francisco and was Head of Design and Merchandising for Fritzi of CA and later moved to Los Angeles and was V.P. Marketing for a large Apparel Firm and later Head of Design and Merchandising for another very large Apparel Firm in L.A.
After traveling all over the world and achieving some pretty great things, I retired from the Apparel Industry in the mid 80's and began to work on my recovery from having been married to an emotionally abusive husband that had a huge problem with alcohol. Alcoholism is a horrible disease and it not only destroys the alcoholic but destroys all those affected by it. I'm very grateful I found a way to get my sanity back and have a fulfilling life.
It took me a number of years in Al-Anon and a number of years in various other modes of recovery to break free from the cycle of abuse & codependency that I was so deeply entrenched in. It has been a life long journey for me but I've made great headway one day at a time.
I became a Missionary for awhile and later went to Fuller Theological Seminary to work on my M.Div. This is where I met my wonderful husband, John, that I have been married to for the past 21+ years.
My life is pretty great now. We live on a beautiful Alpaca Ranch in the High Desert in Southern California.
We have Alpacas, 2 Missouri Fox Trotter horses, a Golden Retriever, Kitties, Chickens, and more just to name a few of our menagerie! It's a great place for us kids at heart!
So I went from being a "City Girl" and "Business Profess...Expand for more
ional" to being a Missionary, then on to Seminary, then I became a Foster mom, adopted one of our Foster kids, and now live a great life in the country and am "A Country Girl". What a character building experience my life has been. I've been to the heights and to the depths and never a dull moment! I'm grateful for everything I have been through because I have learned so many valuable life lessons.
I couldn't have gone through the things I've gone through without having a close walk with our creator, the great "I AM". I really thank Him for my mom and all her prayers for me over the years. She would have turned 94 on July 4th, 2008 but crossed over to"the other side" one week before.
She was the Girl Scout Leader of Troop 120 and like a second mom for the girls in the KHS class of '63. What a Pillar in my life and for so many others.
We adopted our first Foster Child. We did Foster care for six years...that is definately "Book & Movie Material"! People tell us we should write a book or make a movie about our experiences. She is now a 20 yr. old and out on her own doing really well.
I lost touch with most of the people I knew at KHS and CMSU and have enjoyed getting back in touch with a number of people these past few years through Classmates.
My husband and I own Browne Hypnosis Center and are both certified in the following complimentary to traditional medicine healing modalities: Master Hypnotherapist, Master NLP (Neuro Linquistic Programming) and Time Empowerment Practitioner, EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique Practitioner, Reiki Master/Teacher and Akashic Records Practitioner.
I'm grateful that I've discovered my life's true purposes and am able to be available to help so many people let go of self limiting beliefs and past issues that no longer serve them so they can discover their life purposes and live the life of their dreams.
We are truly blessed!
