Martin's Story
School
We moved to Florida in 1946. I tended Sulfer Springs one year(1946-1947). It was unusual for me to attend a full year at the same school. We moved out in the country and a went to Franklin Jr. High the next year. I went to HHS for all 3 High School years. It was the first time I had gone to the same school for more than 2 years. I majored in Chem. Eng. at U of F, then went to work for DuPont in Del. After several job changes, I spent most of my carreer in NC working in Olin Corp.'s cellopha...Expand for more
ne plant. When they closed the plant, I took a job with Atlantic Research Corp. making rocket motors for weapons systems. I started in Northern VA, but was transferred to Camden AR where I spent my last 4 working years. In 1997 I retired and we settled in Columbia, SC. I have suppimented my Social Security and pension, such as it is, by tutoring High School students in Math, Chemistry and Physics. My wife and I try to play tennis 4-5 times a week. We are not very good but it is fun and good exercize.
