Martin's Story
Before coming into Snow Hill, I was only a French speaking below average student. My year with you changed the way I thought of myself. Thanks to Mr. Watson who pushed me to be a better student and made me realize that I can succeed in school and thanks to Mr Hogan who allowed me to play in his soccer team. Thanks to all the teachers, the school staff and you all, the students, you all welcomed me so well and made me feel like a part of your family.
Going back home, I studied to become a teacher, with hopes to change a student's life like what you all did for me.
I went on to be a teacher, an airline pilot, and back to teaching again. I've been teaching for 15 years at the elementar...Expand for more
y level, teaching in Quebec, Mexico, Louisiana, and now in Alberta where I teach 2nd graders, I still have the same passion regarding my job.
Now, 25 years later, married with 2 kids, my heart is still in Snow Hill. I even had the chance to bring my wife and kids to Ocean City and meet my American Family, the Makinen's. My wish would be to give my kids a chance to live the same experience as I had in Snow Hill.
You knows, maybe you will see my daughter on a screen (she's working on being an actress) or my son on a field (he better in soccer than I was at the same age and he is even better on a football field than on a soccer field.)
