Martin's Story
Life
I attended UNC Chapel Hill for undergraduate school. After graduation I moved to New York City to attend New York University and obtained an MBA in 1979. I worked for Chase Manhattan Bank from 1979 to 1999 and had assignments in Nigeria, Liberia, Cameroon and Ivory Coast. In 1987 I returned to the US and begin working in Chase's Private Bank. I had several positions in the Private Bank which included designing a full multicurrency accounting system and then moved in the client/relationship management side of the business where I worked with some of Chase's largest private client relationships. 999 through June 2005 I worked at US Trust in NY where I was responsible for the Family Wealth Management and Bank Custody groups. I took the remainder of 2005 to play and have some fun. In 2006 I completed a certificate in Financial Planning at New York University to prepare me to take the Certified Financial Planner examination in November 2006. I learned in Jan 2007 that I had passed the exam. I considered being a financial planner but decided to go back into corporate life and use my CFP designation at Citigroup's Smith Barney and Private Bank areas. I am married to Elizabeth "Liz" and we have 2 cats.
