Mary Anne's Story
I am single and the mother of three great kids and gramma of one beautiful grandson. My two older kids, daughter-in-law and grandson live in Colorado and my youngest son and I presently live in Pennsylvania.
I am trained as a Speech Pathologist and am presently semi-retired but starting my own business. I am also certified in Reiki, a healing energy, given by the hands of the practitioner.
My new business name is: "Healing Modalities." I have a temporary office and will be starting to see new clients this week, the week of March 16, 2009.
I still like to write poetry and short stories, like I did in high school. I belong to a singles group, the local art center and a local writer's guild, where I have been published in anthologies. I have also had some of my stories of my travels published in the local newspaper.
I swam with dolphins in the Florida Keys in 1995. I taught in San Diego for a year and a half from 2002-2004 and worked as a volunteer docet on a whalewatching boat, talking to the tourists about Grey whales. I have talked to school children in my hometown and in San Diego about whales and dolphins. These...Expand for more
presentations are part of my business plan, as I believe that dolphins and whales are very healing creatures.
I just joined the Moraine Sailing Club at the lake near where I live last fall. I crewed in my first race and it was a blast! I am the new social chairperson for 2009.
I canvassed for our wonderful, new president for nine months and traveled all over the country meeting so many nice, new people. I was a volunteer at the National Convention in Denver in August and it was a wonderful experience. I just finished a five week tour of the country by plane and train.
I visited seven major cities and met more wonderful new people, making new friends and promoting my business.
The culmination of my trip was to attend the Inauguration of President Obama. It was a cold day but we all kept warm by our close contact standing during the ceremony. My feet were cold and hurt but my heart was happy.
I am a happy person and I am having a good time connecting with old friends on Classmates.com. I look forward to hearing from more and more old friends as the time gets closer to our next class reunion Labor Day weekend.
