Mary Anne's Story
Life
I needed only 1 English credit to complete high school requirements so I left at the end of the first semester of my senior year and married a Marine. We lived in CA, NC and Hawaii when it was a territory. After 3 children and 10 years of marriage we divorced and the children and I moved in with my parents who were living in Jacksonville, FL. I met and married a Navy man and he later adopted my children. We were married 37 years when he died of non-HodgkinÂs lymphoma in 2001. I cared for him for 2 1/2 years before his death. Two of our children died, a son at age 9 ½ and a daughter at 39. We have a daughter, an adopted son and one grandson that is in the U.S. Marines.
We traveled a lot and spent a month on our 60th birthday in the British Isles. I do genealogy (tracing our family tree) and like to travel, read. I love NFL ...Expand for more
football and NBA basketball. I always see the funny things in life even when things are not quite so funny. I am an eternal optimist.
I retired from CSX Transportation, the third largest rail network in the U.S. The last few years I worked a half day answering customer phone calls and the other half, working on a team that designed, tested and implemented computer systems we used on the railroad. I think retirement is the best job I ever had  I stay home and they send money.
Update:
After the death of my husband and father, I sold my home in Jacksonville and moved to Orlando, FL in Sep. 2005 to live with my daughter. I lived here from 1968 to 1973 when my husband was stationed at the Navy Boot Camp here. I love it here. Since I am "directionally impaired", my daughter gave me a GPS for Christmas and now I can go anywhere.
