Mary Beth's Story
High School
My biggest inspiration was Mr. Engle because he was a teacher that actually took time out of his day to care about his students. Not to mention he could control his class, that in itself was amazing! I also greatly appreciated Mr. Jackson and his business courses which were very helpful to me later on when typing, computers and bookkeeping became a necessity in my life.
My Life
I went to Seattle Pacific University where I graduated with a B.A. in Fine Arts. Shortly after that I met and married my husband John and we have 2 sons. My oldest is almost 24 and a who feels deeply but doesn't know how to show it. My youngest is 23, he I is truly warm spirited and thoughtful. My husband is every girls dream because he truly treats me like a princess...Expand for more
and has been willing to put up with me for 27 years and counting.
My Parents
In 2003 my father had a bicycling accident which left him a quadripledgic on a ventilator for the last 2-1/2 years of his life. He is and always will be my hero for the caring father he was to his children, the loving husband he was to my Mom, and his humble manner in his achievements and the grace and humor in which he accepted his condition in his last years. My Mom is still living but suffers from Alzheimer's which has had some devastating moments as well as some really funny ones. I guess in dealing with my parents illnesses I learned that it really helps to hang on to your sense of humor and faith in God. They're both really helpful in dealing with the day to day insanity.
