Mary's Story
I live and work in Pinellas County, Florida. We are actually a part of Tampa Bay.
The people who knew me in high school can't believe that I even made it to college. It took me a few years to get there, but it was the greatest time of my life.
Palo Alto College was the beginning of my journey. I was in the first class. What was so cool is that I brought along four or five co-workers from John Glen Elementary. Success begets success.
St. Pete JC was my next stop. Wow, I was invited to join Phi Theta Kappa (Eta Nu)and I met the most amazing people I've ever known. All of a sudden I was a community leader and smart too.

lse was focused on their goals just like I was, but I managed to squeeze in Student Government and Kappa Delta Pi.
Happy Cinco de Mayo! May 5,1993- Graduation with honors.
My job takes up most of my time, but I write adolescent literature- teenage angst- when I can. My husband is a poetry man and he provides a multitude of ideas.
The proudest moment of my life was to watch my 28 year old son, Emilio, graduate from the University of South Florida St. Pete in 2008 with a degree in Political Science. He campaigned in New Hampshire for Hillary for 10 days as part of his class assignment.
My husband Basil is a native Floridian, but he went to the University of Tennessee on a track scholarship. He was on the same team as Willie Gault and in the same dorm with Bill Bates.
I miss San Antonio, but Florida is not so bad. Really.
