Mary's Story
Life
I have been married for 27 years now to a great guy named Fred. We have 2 great kids, Fred Jr, 26 and Amanda, 19. However, our lives have been filled to spend most of it going to Columbia Presbyterian Babies Hospital in NYC. Amanda was born with servere Scoliosis which also caused her to have internal medical problems as well. She has had about 40 surgeries since birth. In 2003 Amanda a "halo" surgery which was extremely painful for her & us to watch. During one of the surgeries during that time Amanda had flat lined on the doctors & came very close to losing her. But with lots of prayers she pulled through. However, when it was time to leave the hospital she was in a wheelchair. But because Amanda is a strong willed child she refused to stay in a chair and worked hard to walk again. She now has a swing or "dead' leg as they say but does her best in walking. Today she is straighter than she was but it looks like the curve has come back some. Now she is in many ways like any other teen today except with disabilities. it makes it hard at times for her to go to school and do the things she really loves like dance, run & ride a bike, but she does her best. s alot of fun. My son is married to a girl name Jen and they have a beautiful daughter named Nicole. she is 6 and is extremely smart. She looks alot like my son. There is nothing like a grandchild. They are wonderful. We are expecting our second grandchild in November. Hope it's a boy this time. We spoil all the kids. Family is the best thing in life. I can't image my life without them. We wanted more but after Amanda we did't want to take any chances. I work for the Pinegrove Ranch & Family Resort in Kerhonkson as the Director of Sales. It is a fun job. So if you want to go on vacation that is different you should come to the ranch. Fred is a truck driver in Goshen, Freddie and his family moved to Forida and don't get to see Nicole anymore. We have a big beautiful 5 bedreoom house which we are doing renovations on that is taking so long because we're doing it ourselves. But once it's done it'll be great. My life didn't go as planned but that is fine with me because I have so much more than so many people and feel very blessed with my life today. We may not be rich with money but we are rich with family & friends that I fell like I am. Life may be tough but if life was easy we would never know when it is trully great. So I hope you all enjoy the rollercoaster of life.
