Kerry's Story
I grew up in Colorado until the mid-50's then moved with my family to Takoma Park MD where we spent several years before moving to our home in Rockville, MD. I was a student at Peary the first year it opened and graduated in 1965.
In the years since I've lived in Florida, Colorado and now North Carolina where I've put down some serious roots. I've retired from being a member of the "workforce," but I'm a part-time "au purr"-- yes, a cat nanny! I take care of kitties in their own homes while their families are away. In my spare time, I write...and I'm reading all those books that have been on my "rainy day" list for years. Currently I'm finishing writing my memoir, which I hope to publish late next year.
Also in 2015 I'll be volunteering with SisterCare, a local non-profit that helps people with household tasks and taking them to and from doctor appointments while they recover from short-term illness or accidents. I'm also a non-performing member of Womansong, a community chorus here in Asheville. I sang with them for four years and now help with promotion of their concerts and souvenir sales. I'm a member and volunteer with The Asheville Writers Workshop.

my delightful gal partner of the past 7 years, in an intimate ceremony surrounded by my brother, his wife and our good friends. I never dreamed this would be possible in my lifetime, especially here in North Carolina!
I love being outdoors in this beautiful part of the world and intentionally seek out places that are quiet. Silence is so hard to find these days and highly underrated. I also love going to movies & plays and listening to music. Folk music is my all-time favorite.
Would enjoy hearing from old friends. If you don't recognize my name, I used to be Mary Hight - now Kerry Daniel. The reason is nothing so interesting as being part of a witness protection program or a sex change operation. I simply never liked my name, so when my mother passed away I plunked down $35 at the Clerk of the Court's office in Durango, Colorado -- and became Kerry Lee Daniel.
My younger brother John, his wife and 4 cats live in Florida. They will soon be looking to retire, and I'm hoping to talk them into moving closer to me when they do.
I've had ups and downs through the years, used up a number of my nine lives, but overall life has been a grand, adventurous, and wonderful ride. With a bit of good luck, I'll have a few more good years to enjoy life in the company of those I love.
