Mary's Story
What to write; what to write...
First, there are the bare facts: I am divorced with 4 grown children and15 grandchildren (none of whom live within many miles of me). I enjoy living a quiet life in a small town after having lived an action-packed life in 3 countries and 10 states (four of them twice).
Next there is the trite stuff: I enjoy long walks on the ocean beach. Oops! There is no ocean beach in OK, but if a beach WERE here, I would like it because I do like to walk and I do like watching the ocean.
Then there is the incredible stuff: I frequently sit on the floor and get up again without needing to rely on a hand up, which is good since I live by myself.
Then there is the more personal stuff: I am the official crazy cat lady in the neighborhood, but most of my cats are former strays and all are neutered. I also have 2 dogs, but they are outnumbered by the cats.
Then we have the mundane details: I sing in a community chorus, read a variety of books, and take classes for my personal edification. Busy is my ...Expand for more
middle name, and I like it that way. I enjoy live theater, "classical" music, healthy food, box games (when I can find somebody to play with) and travel.
Then there is the unbelievable: Although I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) when I was in my early 20's and remained an active member throughout the following 40 years, I first questioned and then re-evaluated that choice about 2 years ago, and withdrew my membership from that organization in Sept of 2012. My relationship with Christ is not dependent on any particular church membership.
And back to the trite: It is impossible to condense so many years into a small space without becoming tediously boring. My life has been a pretty good life. I like to laugh, and that has gotten me through all of the "should I laugh or cry" moments in my life. I am not particularly strong or brave. I just do what needs to be done when it needs to be done and then press on. I own my mistakes and try not to repeat them too often.
Smiles to all of you.
