Mary Jude's Story
Greetings fellow people from my past. I currently reside in Greensboro, NC and am a public school English teacher as well as an adjunct English instructor at a local college.
After a number of years of playing the "how many colleges can I enroll in" game I finally graduated from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a BA in English.
Since there isn't a great need for people skilled in writing six page papers on sexual symbolism in eight lines of poetry, I decided to head north, open my mind and attend graduate school. I graduated with a MA in Liberal Stud...Expand for more
ies at the State University of NY at Stony Brook and once again discovered that my employability skills were negligible, at best.
I then decided to follow in the path of my parents and made the trek to NYC Board of Public Education on Smith Street in Brooklyn and applied to be a teacher. I have never looked back.
After teaching for two years in Brooklyn, I headed back south and have taught in Charlotte, Asheville, and now Greensboro. Also, during that time I picked up an Education Specialist degree at Appalachian State University.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
