Mary's Story
Life
August 28 will be my 25th wedding anniversary. Greg & I have had our ups & downs, but for right now, our life together is good. We raised two beautiful kids together, Kaitlin (21 in October) and Shane (18). We are also grandparents to a two year old girl, Alayna Marie, who is our pride and joy. Kaitlin is an absolutely wonderful mother as well.
Workplace
Worked at Pfizer in Groton from 1978 to 1993, first as a Word Processor and then as an Administrative Assistant (glorified secretary!). Moved to Florida in 1993 but didn't work until 1994 (gotta love that unemployment!). I worked at the Courthouse as a Court Clerk in Child Support/Domestic Violence. The job was awesome, but the pay was the pits! Went to work for the City of Punta Gorda in July 1996 as the Recording Secretary, then was promoted ...Expand for more
to Deputy City Clerk in December 1998. After a truly life changing event in July 2002, I left the City and worked for a local attorney - secretary, legal assistant, etc. From there I worked at the Punta Gorda Housing Authority (what we so fondly refer to as "the projects") until I got laid off after Hurricane Charley decimated the area in August 2004. Then (phew!) I cleaned houses for a year - great money but it kicked my ass physically - and then worked at WalMart as a cashier for six months. I thought I would hate working at WalMart, but it was actually fun! Anyway, I went back to work for the City of Punta Gorda in May 2006 as Recording Secretary, and here I am still. Not the most exciting job in the world, but my boss and co-workers are the best, benefits are awesome, and our office is super laid back.
