Mary's Story

Life Well, thus far my life has been rather busy. I attended college for a year after high school, after which I married Daniel Diefenderfer(8/10/96). He was in the US Army for 6 years, and during that time we lived on Ft. Bragg in North Carolina. We had two sons, Daniel Jr.(6/2/97) and Troyal Storm (8/27/98). We moved back to Berwick in 2001, Dan moved back to Minnesota and then we got divorced in 2002. I had a third son then, Austin John Goss (9/16/03). I just recently remarried (2/20/05), to my best friend of 7 or so years, Joshua Crow. He is in the Army, stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana. I am a stay-at-home mom, and I also have been working on writing something that a couple of publishing companies are interested in...we'll see. I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, reading, writing, and xbox/ps2/computer games. That's about all I have for now, we'll see what a little more time will bring! ---------------------------------------------------------- 5/11/05 - Been busy going through everything we own and packing, since my husband and I decided that it would be best to let DJ and Troy finish out the school year here in Berwick. We'll be leaving Pennsylvania permanently at the end of June. ----------------------------------------------------------- 7/23/05 - Well, we've moved, and I've been extremely busy unpacking and organizing our new home. Louisiana is great, except the humidity. Once the kids get back to school (Aug. 15), then I'll be looking into school for myself, and homeschooling for the boys for next year. ----------------------------------------------------------- 4/16/08 - Boy, does time fly when you're having fun! I've been married to Josh for quite some time now, and I love him more every day. He's deployed to Afghanistan and now Iraq, and we're still in Louisiana. We now have a little girl. YAY! A girl! Her name is Samantha Marie Crow (10/07/06) and she is amazing. She's potty training, speaks in sentences, and probably knows more words than my 4 year old. Speaking of Austin, he's been diagnosed as having mild autism and even though he can be difficult is a delight. He's also very smart as far as that goes. DJ and Troy are doing great and getting surprisingly old and tall. Before I know it, I'll have teenagers. I am extremely busy. I am not only a PWOC Watch Care Liaison this year, attend Choir at ELBC during AWANA, and Church at ELBC on Sundays, and getting ready to step in as the Volunteer Central coordinator. That's not counting all of the appointments, events, and just plain fun we schedule around those activities. I've also been asked to be the t...Expand for more
reasurer for our FRG when the 1SG and his wife get transferred. Wow! That's a lot of acronyms. That's the Army for you! Anyway, in the great words of Forrest Gump, 'Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.', but I've never had a chocolate from a box that wasn't sweet. I hope that everyone I went to school with is twice as happy as I am, and I've never been happier. -------------------------------------- 1/3/09-Well, a lot has gone on in the past year. My husband has been deployed for a 15 month tour in Iraq, and is about to come home. The kids have grown, and they keep me on my toes. I taught a semester at PWOC, and it was history-based. LOL! Isn't that just hilarious, since history was always the bane of my existence. This semester I'm running the Secret Sisters program there. I've been attending a study on Wednesday morning, and on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings my Volunteer Central running keeps me busy. Speaking of that, I better get to bed. It's late on a Saturday night, and I should be asleep! -------------------------------------- 8/24/13- I completely forgot that I had a Classmates account until I got a message in my email box! Wow, it has been a long time! So much has happened! I moved from Fort Polk, Louisiana to Fort Gordon, Georgia during 2009-2010. We were there for 9 months while my husband went to school. When his schooling was complete, we received orders to Hawai'i! We have been living here ever since, and due to the things going on with the government, we do not have a date for leaving as yet. I worked as the Media head for PWOC for two years, and this year I am the Vice President. It keeps me busy, as well as homeschooling the kids. I love to get out and use my camera when I have time, and have started a private, amatuer photography company. It's funny, I actually looked back at my Berwick senior year yearbook, and I realized I have accomplished everything I said I wanted to do and then some! Sorry, though, it's not looking like I'll ever make it to a reunion. We are enjoying Oahu as much as one can when one lives here. Living here is very different from vacationing here! The beaches are gorgeous! We stay home during summer and Christmas, since they are the tourist seasons where visitor traffic is extremely heavy on the island. We have been here long enough to pick up on some local things, like places to eat, pronunciations, and things to see. We hope to leave Oahu and see the other islands before we leave Hawai'i. Until then, we're enjoying the local weather and scenery, and just getting a bit spoiled by them! Aloha!
