Mary Susan's Story

Life I have such a great life! I married my high school sweetheart, (3rd time getting married was the charm) and soulmate, Earl Whaley, CHS Class of 1972. Earl is still trucking (after selling Rainbow Catering) with Estes Express Lines out of Orlando, FL and is also an Evangelist, spreading the Good News that Jesus Saves! We live in Sebastian, FL (on the East Coast between Cocoa Beach and Vero Beach) and we love it! I retired from Harris Corporation and loving retirement. :) Unfortunately, we lost our home during Hurricane Jeanne (9/26/04) but we rebuilt it with a new home on the same spot! I have one daughter, Jennifer Joy Jones, born in 1976, with my ex-husband Mark Pawlowski and two precious granddaughters, Mackenzie Joy Jones and Madison Taylor Jones, they are so precious and all are such a blessing! Mark was in the US Navy and we were stationed in Pascagoula, MS (USS Gilmore was in the Shipyard); La Maddalena Italy (Sardinia - we lived in Palau and then at the Flathouse in La Maddalena); Charleston, SC and then to San Diego, CA, where we lived in Rancho Pensiquitas and Poway, CA. I was in the Air Force (active and reserve) for 10 years and was stationed at Lowry AFB, Denver, CO. I started out in 1979 in Basic Training as a Dorm Chief (last name was Pawlowski) in the 3707th - WOW! What a experience! I had SO much fun dancing at "Arnold Hall". I will never forget it, along with lifelong friends such as the House Mouse - Sherri Wynn Friscia and Lynne Fannin Thompson, and of course, and I couldn't forget Champs, what a great Squad Leader :) We had a great T.I. - CMSgt Panamaranko - thanks for making us into a Honor Flight! I had wonderful jobs during active duty - I was in the 3415th ABG, Lowry AFB, Denver, CO as an Admin Assistant starting in Student Assignments, then Base Commander's Office, and ending up in Center Commanders Office (my ex husband was Larry LaFlam). I was also in a fantastic Air Force Reserve Unit (929th CES) at Lowry AFB, Denver, CO. Such wonderful memories. I miss so many people from my military career. To name a few: Steve Shields, Nyles Neves, Tina Husband, Greg Tenley and Suzanne, Lynne Fannin, Sherrie Friscia. I miss dancing at the Airman's Club and NCO Club at Lowry AFB - what a great place! Had such fun at Christiana High School in Delaware with my friends, such as: Pam Mahaney, Ruth Kingsley. Great times at Merryland Roller Rink and working as a waitress at Sherwood Diner in Glasg...Expand for more
ow and working during my senior year as one of the first Co-Ops in high school at Wilmington Trust Company in Newport, DE. What a great life growing up in Brookside Park, Newark, DE - it was way ahead of its time with the schools, shopping centers, pool, churches, etc. Especially the Tab dances and the all the fun at Brookside Pool! I thank God for my parents, family, life, friends, my child, Joy and my grandchildren and relationships that I have been blessed with during my life. I am so blessed and thankful! PRAISE THE LORD! School I enjoyed being one of the first ever 12 co-op students at Christiana High School, Newark, DE in my senior year (1970-71) and we must have done a great job, because the program is still going strong! Thank you to Mrs. Surratt, may she rest in peace (for teaching me so much about the working world), Ms. Callison (for being the best typing teacher ever!) I enjoyed all my friends and had so much fun dancing and all the great music during school years - the best music ever! Especially the "Philly Sounds" - and dancing at the great Brookside, Dickinson and St. Mark dances - so much fun! And, can't forget the "Merryland Roller Rink" and the Sherwood Diner (worked there with my Mom in my teen years) in Glasgow and my Robin Egg Blue 1971 VW Bug! THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES! But, the best memory (past and present) of all is the love of my life, my soulmate, my wonderful husband - the one and only Earl Whaley (my Earl the Pearl)! Military My 10 years in the military (Air Force active and reserves) at Lowry AFB, Denver, CO., were absolutely terrific! I met so many people, who became great lifelongfriends, starting in Basic Training - Sherri Wynn Friscia and Lynne Fannin Thompson! I was a Dorm Chief in Basic Training in 1979 (last name was Pawlowski), what an experience! Such great girls in our Squadron, 3707th and we ended up as Honor Flight. We had such fun dancing at Arnold's and running back to make it in time for our curfew. I wish I could find everyone and have a reunion. Next, I was sent to Lowry AFB, Denver, CO and was an Admin Assistant in the 3415th AFB and had great jobs in Student Assignments, Base Commander's Office, and Center Commander's Office (my ex-husband was Larry LaFlam). I also belonged to the 929th CES Reserve Unit at Lowry AFB - and it was a great way of life! I enjoyed my active duty military as well as my active Air Force Reserves! Thanks everyone for the memories!
