Jerry's Story
I came to Delaware in 1942 and was in the second grade at George Gray school. Then went to Warner Jr High where I played on the baseball team. I was awarded the American Legion Award at graduation Then on to Wilmington High for 10th and 11th. I was in the class of 53, but not in the class book since I wasn't around for the senior year. I was stupid and quit during 11th grade. Then tried Brown Vocational for a while and quit again. I went to work at Bancroft Mills for a short while, then Doeskin Prod...Expand for more
ucts in Rockland. I left Doeskin to go to Fort Bliss, Texas for Radar Tech Training. After that, I went to work for IBM as a computer tech for 32 years. In 1956 I married Dale Bastek from the class of 1955. We had a son, Jerry Jr. We have lived in Wilmington Manor, Meadowood and currently in Bear, Del. It's been a great life for us, but we are growing older every day. I played a lot of baseball around New Castle County, mostly with Elsmere, but some American Legion teams and Semi-Pro teams as well.
