Marybeth's Story
I hope old friends remember me as a kind, caring person who was always open to and friends with everyone.
My favorite thing to do to blow off steam is to work out...my favorite way to relax is to spend time playing with my daughter.
The wildest thing I ever did in high school, there were many but...I guess everything I did when I went to England with the high school choir in tenth grade...shame on all of us who stayed at Mrs. Hudsons house!! (You know who you are).
My guilty pleasures are The Bachelorette, Survivor, and other cheesy reality shows.
The biggest surprise in my life?.....I never knew how much you could love someone until I had my daughter.
The most important thing I have learned from having a child is to not take myself too seriuosly....always try to have the wonder and excitement of a child.
The teachers I would most like to see again are:
Mr. Householder for inspiring me....
Mr. Pratt for being honest in telling me that I would not make a good doctor....especially after getting sick during disections!
Mr. Cusumano and Mr. Hoffman for giving me a passion for linguistics....
Mr. Sheriff for being a great 6th grade teacher and giving me the c...Expand for more
onfidence I needed.
I love my job, although I am currently on sabaticol. I love teaching....when I am not teaching I work in Manhattans garment district for an antique textile company....I look forward to getting back in the classroom.
Who was my first crush? I had so many its pretty hard to remember who was actually first. I guess Chris Campion and Charles Mixer were up there on the list along with 20 others, although I do remember having a crush on David McCarthy in sixth grade, he might have been the first.
My best friend would tell you that I am a lot of fun and not at all shy. People who do not know me would think I was very shy and quiet.
Probably the only trophy I have is the one I got for cheerleading, which proudly sits in my attic, collecting dust.
My first job was at St. Peter of Alcantara in Port Washington teaching k-8th grade music. I got paid 17 thousand a year...imagine that???
A childhood memory that I will never forget? My father packed all the kids from the neighborhood into our station wagon and headed for the beach.... without me....I was 5 and stood in front of my house crying....It took him till West Neck Rd. to realize I was missing!
