MaryBeth's Story
First of all, I was known as Mary Beth Packard, not just Mary. If you need a hint, I was and am very short (4'11"). I helped with the senior play and the junior prom; in fact I came in second for chair of the prom, after Paula Sparre, I think. Funny how names I haven't thought of in years come back to me.
After WHS I went to Wake Forest Univ. in NC, and by chance my father was transferred to Winston-Salem, NC my junior year, so I never had a reason to come back to Westfield. I majored in Mathematics and went into computing when I graduated, along with getting married to my physics instructor. We lived in Huntsville, AL for two years working in the space program (Apollo), then moved to Orlando, FL (before anyone had even heard of Disney!). I had a daughter there and became a full-time mom until I was divorced and went back to work -at Rollins College in Winter Park, managing the administrative computing. rking there.
Three years later I went to work at the Univ. of Central Florida, managing computing for the Computer Science Department. Left there to start a consulting company in 1983 with two other women.
Then in 1996 I sold my share of the business to the one remaining partner and left for Emory University's Candler School of Theology where I earned a Master of Divinity. I am now a Methodist minister, serving at the moment in Lakeland, FL. Have also served churches in Jacksonville, Ocala, St. Petersburg and Miami -all in Florida.
I live in a 3000 sq ft. parsonage with my apricot standard poodle Hildegard. My daughter lives in Dallas, TX, but we see each other fairly frequently, have traveled to Europe together, shop on-line together, etc.
I've got a sermon to prepare for tomorrow, so this is it for awhile. I finally got a photo on the site! Promised Hildegard to take her to the dog park while it's still light. Another reason to stop now.
