I am living in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area with my youngest son, Joe age 20 and our three cats, Annie,Smokey,Katie and Samson my dog. My oldest son Brian is in Tempe, AZ working as a game tester. He has a BA in Video Game Design. I became widowed in 1999 when my husband Stan, a Detroit Edison supervisor and my children's father, passed away after a long struggle with COPD, a lung disorder. I am a graduate of U of M Dearborn with a Bachelor of General Studies in English, History and Psychhology. I started out my college career at MSU but had to come home in '71 due to family finances.
I worked as a switchboard operator, then a legal secretary till I met and married my first husband in '73.Seven years later I had divorce and a Degree from UM-Dearborn and a job at the Enrico Fermi Nuclear Power Plant in Monroe, MI. I was at Fermi II until 1984, working in the Quality Control/Quality Assurance department, starting as a data entry clerk and working my way up to Assistant Documentation Supervisor for the Daniel International Corporation
the managing contractor for Detroit Edison on site. I met my second husband,Stan Baker at Fermi in'83, married in '84, moved with him in '85 to Algonac in the Port Huron area when he was transferred by Detroit Edison to their Belle River power plant up north.
We moved to Ypsilanti, just east of Ann Arbor in '86, I had Brian in Feb. of '87, then Joey in Dec. '88. I stayed home with the boys till '94, then worked as a substitute secretary for the Willow Run School district, then in '96-'97 for a carpet/air duct cleaning company as a customer service rep. My husband, Stan became ill in '92, and by '97 had already had one long hospital stay and came home on oxygen. love to re-connnect with any of you by phone, letter or E-mail. I've always wondered what happened to our class since the last reunion. The most recent reunion was sold out so quickly by the time I heard of it all the tickets were gone. I really hope someone plans another one soon. I'd even be willing to help organize and plan it with other interested alumni.
College
After graduation in'69, i spent two fantastic years at Michigan State University, majoring in Secondary Education, at the time I wanted to be an English/History teacher. I was forced to leave MSU in the spring of'71 due to financial problems. I went back home to Dearborn Hts. and worked as a jr legal secretary till I met my first husband. I returned to college at University of Michigan -Dearborn in ‘75 and graduated with a Bachelor of General Studies in English,History and Psychology in '77. I married in '73, divorced in '79. Workplace
I have had a rather diverse working career. In High School, senior year, I work at MaryJane's Bridal shop as a clerk. I got the job when I went there to shop for a prom gown, the owner's late wife's name was MaryJane. My next job was as a jr. legal secretary in a Dearborn attorney's office.
Next, I got a job at the Detroit Edison FermiII nuclear power plant that lasted till summer of 1986. After my second marriage and the birth of my 2 sons, I went back to work as a substitute secretary in the Willow Run School District. After that, I worked for a carpet/Air duct cleaning company for two years till my husband retired on disability. After he passed away, I stayed home for 2 years, then began working for the University of Michigan from 2002-04. Currently retired. Active at my Local Senior Center in Ypsilanti, MI where I have lived since 1084
