Mary's Story
I went to Washington Park school for grades 1 through part of 5th. My family moved, and I entered Rothenberg Elem. I had several good friends, but my best friend at Rothenberg was a girl named Carolyn. I lost touch with her in 9th grade. After going Rothenberg, I went to Cutter Junior High. My high school was Taft.
After graduation, I decided it was time to try my wings, so I took off for Mich. for 8 months. Not the place for me. So here I am back in Cincinnati where in 1973, I met the man who I married. We raised three sons. I have been blessed with 2 granddaughters. I have always had a love for teaching. I am a preschool teacher. And loving it.
Life was not wonderful growing up. Not only was I shy, but very heavy and my home life was not the greatest. I won't go into that.. No Pity Parties here!!! were poor and just trying to survive. Of course, I didn't know or understand that then, as I do now. I truly believe it is easier to forgive then forget. There are those times, as I am sure, most people would agree, it would be a blessing to be able to forget all the sad times they experienced growing up. Then there are those times I not only want to remember, but need too. OTR is where my roots are. Growing up there and having a wonderful mom is partly why I am the way I am today. Growing up my mom did her best to teach her children right from wrong and never to hate anyone no matter what. I know now, something I didn't even know sometime ago, my mom and growing up down town is the reason, I grew into a bold, strong, caring, helpful, understanding, take no crap from anyone, kind of woman I am today. As a grandma and teacher, I am patient, loving, fun, and forgiving. As a parent, you will have to ask one of my sons:) On any given day they may have a different story to tell LOL!!!
