Maureen's Story
2014 - What a great year to come. I am grateful for the family, friends and experiences thus far. Have a great year. See you at the Matador Mingle some time?
2013 - Time is ticking on. Thanks for those of you that have reconnected with me.
2012 - Whoo hoo here we come! Looking forward to a great year... What is new with you?
2011 - Finds me healthy and happy to be reconnected with great friends! I have been able to track down some old buddy's and share some memories and laugh at what we cant remember! Here is to my continuing quest to find my old friends, you know who you are and begin some more memories.... you can contact me if you want, and let me know what a ___________ (you fill in the blank) that you remember me to have been. LOL
2010 - Humm good question. I know what I am and that is... an unfinished book with many more chapters to write. I have worked hard, played hard, laughed hard and all of this was unexpected 30 years ago. I really had no aspirations except to fit in and I did the opposite.
I started work as a Topographical Draftsman, got laid off with 150 others and began a career as a bartender. This was lot of work and lots of travel and late ...Expand for more
nights (right up my alley).
At 28 I quit my job and packed a backpack and got on a plane with my hubby and went to 7 countries in Europe and ended up in Nigeria, West Africa bought a small parcel of land. We came home and sold our home and went back to start the building of a orphanage (which we did finally manage to complete but unfortunately were unable to afford to sustain orphans) in a small village that was very well built. We were hoping to house orphans all the way through their childhood with hope of adding more. We also built on a chapel/gym. But instead of the orphans we turned it into a school which grew from 30 students to 200 in one year! Then we started to build a family, we have two terrific kids, a boy and a girl, we lived there as a family until the oldest was four.
The same time we started the village school we began a Computer School in the near town in a former Bank Building, this too grew to 60 students. Within a year after Sept 11th we came home and here we are. I am a content happy (mostly) fairly balanced adult who cannot believe she is 30 years after grad already. If I have had so much fun so far... well I am looking forward to more!
