Maureen's Story
Here I was minding my own business, innocently surfing the net when I came across this site with Lee-Anne Kwasnicki's and Debbie Amtmann's faces staring at me! Needless to say, curiosity got the better of me and here I am.
Ah, the good old days at St Helena! I remember dance class with Mr Weed teaching us to foxtrot and jive, Choir with Mrs Rothbauer, Homeroom with Mr Doyle and Science with Mr Blinch. Yes, those years have a special place in my heart. But I digress...
So what have I been up to? Here's the condensed version:
While still in high school, I worked part-time at Woolco (which is now Walmart.) After I graduated, I decided to work there full time until I decided what I wanted to be when I grew up. I never did find out what I wanted...Expand for more
to be, and after about a year I started working at AGT as a Directory Assistance Operator.
I worked at AGT/Telus for 23 years in various jobs. In 2003, Telus merged the BC and AB offices, and although I still technically had a position, my employees did not. I asked for a severence package and high-tailed it outta there.
Which leads me to the "Blissful Year of Nothingness." I took a year and a half off and did nothing. I worked in the garden, renovated the kitchen, read books, gained weight and didn't care. It was sheer heaven.
I decided to go back to work part-time and applied at Safeway, where I've worked for the last 4 years.
Never married, no kids.
I love karaoke, movies, music, and crafts. Oh yeah and I love Red Wine and Cheesecake.
