Maureen's Story
UPDATE - So Maggie, Autumn and I are now living in a lovely wee house in the west end (gasp!) of Toronto. It is one of the nicer areas and we are far far away from the dreaded Jane/Finch area.
Autumn continues to amaze her medical team and her paediatrician doing things they thought she may never do and in time with her development. I am now a widow (my husband passed in June 2011) and I am going back to school in January to begin a new computer course and work towards a degree in social work. Shelter life sucked so badly (I hope none of you find out how badly) but we are bouncing back! Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic 2014!!
After a series of unfortunate events, I am now a guest at one of our city's shelters (the only one in Ontario that allows pets). Not...Expand for more
asking for sympathy because it could happen to anyone. I became a widow in June 2011 whilst my husband was in rehab trying to get clean.
My beautiful daughter will be 21 in February and is "engaged to be engaged" to a wonderful man. Fortunately the wedding won't be for 2 to 3 years so I have time to save up.
My big brother and only sib, Gord Roach passed away in March 2012 in a house fire in Markham.
DESPITE ALL OF THIS - l am happy - remember kids, you have to roll with the punches that life deals out even though it may be painful at the time.
Namaste and Brightest Blessings *)O(*
EXCITING UPDATE!!! After being homeless since November 2011, and being the guest of the above shelter, we finally have a home! My daughter & I are excited beyond words and can't wait to move.
