Mayra's Story
I’m a proud Cuban American woman with strong roots and values. I grew up in a traditional Cuban household - strong in love and faith. Since the second grade I had a passion for teaching children. I loved visiting my baby cousins and caring for them. I began my adulthood working in the financial industry but everyday I felt I was not living my true dream. I was missing out on my true vocation. Education. I returned back to college for yet more degrees and my dream went into fruition. I became a teacher. I played many roles as an educator from teacher to literacy coach to Assistant Principal. I want to believe I’ve touched lives because so many children...Expand for more
touched mine. Today my life is full and I’ve been blessed with a wonderful family. My parents were and are my rock, as well as my children. I thank God everyday that despite the trials and hard knocks I’ve received, he saw me through each and every time. I am grateful. I am blessed! I surround myself with those that lift me up. Inspire. Quality over quantity. Life is tough enough. I’ve lived. I’ve learned so much from my experiences both good ones and not so good ones. But I’ve become a better person because of it all! New town holds the best memories of my childhood. I’m so grateful I went there and met so many that are friends today. Happy connecting!
