Megan's Story
Life
I'm always casting about for something witty to say in these silly bios, but I never really come up with anything, so ... I guess I'll just give you the basics . I tried the college thing right out of Patch and hated it, so I joined the Marine Corps and spent nine years running around in the woods, getting dirty and just being a fool. I loved it, but it was time to go to college at last, so I got out and went to the University of Maryland where I majored in archaeology. Yes, you read that right ... archaeology. I love it and always will, but it certainly didn't take me long to discover how hard it is to make a living in that field. You can love your job all you want, but that just doesn't seem to pay the bills. I finally left digging around in the dirt and went into public relations. A logical leap, right? It was a strange jump from archaeology, but I like it and after working as the Public Information Officer for a fire department in North Florida and finishing my masters at the University of Florida (Go Gators!), I took another PR gig in Salt Lake City, Utah. At last, I can ski again!
Other than that, I have a Kawasaki ZX10R which I ride everywhere I possibly can. Why walk, take a bus or...Expand for more
drive when I can ride my bike? I love to travel, especially foreign, and am hoping to go whitewater rafting in Chile in the next year.
I haven't run into that many people from my years at Patch, but those of you that may remember me would probably be a little shocked at the way I turned out. I was awfully nerdy and uptight in high school and although I am still a nerd (some things never change) I'm not so conservative anymore. I fell headlong into the whole tattoo, piercing, motorcycle lifestyle when I was in my twenties and have stayed immersed in it ever since. I clean up well (I have to for my job), but I am a pretty laid back person these days. Jeans and t-shirt will always win out over a dress and heels. If I can't ride in it, I really don't see much need for it in my closet. I also had a motorcycle wreck a few years ago that seemed to change my outlook a bit. I try not to sweat the small stuff anymore and heaven knows life is just too short to be uptight or judgemental.
Everytime one of these classmates ads popped up I would think about joining and then put it off. Finally, I gave in and hopefully some of the people I graduated with gave in, too. I'd love to touch base with all of you -
