Meghan's Story
Life
Most recent:
I got divorced in May 2010 & spent 2 years trying to make things work with my high school sweetheart...we have since split as well. Now working on being me & spending most of my time working & being the best mom I can be.
I met Nathan (who is also in the Air Force) in Okinawa in Sep '00 when he kicked me at the club on base. We were married in Apr '01 in Guam and we left Okinawa in Nov '01. Then we were stationed in Montana for 1 yr and 8 mos. Next came Turkey where we had gardeners for like 25 bucks a month! We had our first child on Jun 3, '05 and left Turkey in Sep '05. We have a cat named Bacardi. We moved to Albuquerque, NM, and I started working part time at our credit union when Kayleigh was 2. We just moved back to WV where Nathan is the AF recruiter in Barboursville and Kayleigh is getting to enjoy being close to at least half of her family!
School
I loved being in band in high school and the friends I made at all the ball games and long bus rides. Teaching dance class took up a lot of my time, but I loved those kids (who are now as big as me!)! Weight-lifting was an awesome time. I just wish I still had the motivation to work out 5 days a week. I was so buff! Overall, school made me the strong, independent person I am ...Expand for more
today.
College
Currently attending University of Phoenix.
Workplace
Well, finance wasn't exactly what I thought it was going to be. You can only imagine how upset people get when there is something wrong with their pay! Then after "re-training" I was working as a military broadcaster! I worked for the American Forces News network (mostly based overseas). I was a newscast producer and also shot and wrote my own stories. We were in Turkey when I separated from Active Duty. In New Mexico I stayed home with Kayleigh til she was 2 then started working in the mail room at our credit union. I worked at a credit union in South Charleston. Now I've moved yet again and am working on me again.
Military
Military life isn't for everyone, and with a little one on the way, it wasn't for me anymore either. I separated at the end of January '05, but Nathan will be staying in for a while. I've made some wonderful friendships along the way! So far I've been to Texas, Okinawa, Montana, Maryland, Turkey, New Mexico & then back home to WV! There are things I would change, but for the most part I'm totally glad that I've made the major life decisions that I have made. The military isn't for everyone, it wasn't always for me either, but it is a good start in life.
