Melanie's Story
Life
I transfered to Eastern Washington U in 2000 from Northwest College (near Seattle), where I went right out of high school.
I ran Cross Country and Track since 7th grade ('93). I was on varsity at EWU, and earned my first college letter during the XC season of '01.
My major was Health Promotion and Wellness, and I graduated in June '04. I am actually using my major!
God is really cool and a very important part of my life. He is the backbone of my whole life.
I have always been into music. Because of running, the only music I had time to be a part of was Concert Choir at EWU. I loved it, and we were really good, so it was great!
In June, I finished a year of coaching Cross Country and Track & Field at Nicholls State University. I am now at Bemidji State University to go to grad school and coach there, as well.
I am currently single and content. But I am also looking forward to the day when God decides to put my husband into my life.
School
I went to elementary school at Liberty Christian School in Richland, WA from 1987-1989, then at Sacajawea Elem. from 1989-1993.
I went to junior high at Hanford Junior High in Richland, which became Hanford Middle School when I was in 8th grade. I was there from 1993-1995.
I went to high school at Hanford High School in Richland from 1995-1999.
I competed in Varsity Cross Country and Track during high school, and did both sports during junior high as well. I individually qualified for State Cross Country twice.
My other main activity was band. I started band in 8th grade, playing the clarinet. In 9th grade, I picked up the tenor saxophone, and ended up getting a coronet as well. I did everything in band at one time or another, except jazz band. I was on the band executive council part of the time, too.
I was also in Spanish Club for a couple of years.

hen transfered to Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA from 2000-2004.

I lived in Guy Hall at Northwest College, and at EWU, I lived in Morrison Hall for two years, Brewster Hall for one year, and off campus in a duplex in Cheney for one year.
I earned a degree in Health Promotion and Wellness in June 2004, and I also had minors in Business Administration, Recreation Management, and Spanish.
I am now at Bemidji State University in Minnesota pursing a M.S. in Sports Studies. I am a graduate assistant, so I also teach a couple classes a semester, and am an assistant cross country and track & field coach.
Workplace
I worked as a custodian for my parents' office (David R. Hevel-Attorney at Law) in Kennewick, WA from 1994-1999.
I worked as a hostess at Henry's restaurant in Kennewick during the summer of 2000.
I worked as a shelving page in the Pasco branch of the Mid-Columbia Libraries in Pasco, WA during the summer of 2001.
