Melissa's Story
Life
Having arrived in Sonoma County in 1971, I have never left. I lived in Santa Rosa for a couple of years and have been in Petaluma since 1973. I worked in the local hospital for a couple of years, got married and started a family. I have six children the oldest to turn 42 this June and the youngest got married last June and is now 30. I started back to work in '91 at Sonoma State University as the Rad Tech in the Health Center and retired in '08. I finished my Bachelors in Literature with a minor in History in May '10. Then I plan to work in my garden, travel and maybe learn a foreign language. I also do Botanical Art, with colored pencils, relaxing.

had stomach cancer. I then went to Italy by myself to study Italian in an immersion school in Urbania, lived with a family that didn't speak English. The first week I was like a deer in the headlights, lost but after 5 weeks I was doing well. Went to Oxford in 2016 to study literature for five weeks, Austen, Dickens and Woolf. Went with a girlfriend, so fun.
I now have three children married, one grandbaby and another on the way, June 2019. The two babies will be in LA, living about eight blocks from each other, easy visiting both at once.
I continue studying Italian, work in my garden, play tennis on a team, draw botanical art with colored pencils, and travel whenever I can. Hope you are all well! Hugs~Melissa
