Michael's Story

THEN Who was I? I was the kid who was perceived as 'shy', a drama geek, had friends in almost every social and religious group and, at one point, was voted most likely to become a priest. Some may remember my red 1967 Mustang parked in the lot or the fact that I was most often late to first period (still not a morning person). NOW I currently live near Seattle, WA. I moved to Seattle in 2000 (trying to beat the Winter Olympic chaos) and just love it! It's always green and doesn't rain half as much as everyone thinks it does. Of course, we still tell people it rains a lot to keep more people from moving here. Everyone is easy going and there is so much to do. Definitely a positive change from Utah. I recently (December 2011) bought my first house, a townhouse in West Seattle, and am enjoying decorating and getting things the way I want. I finally feel like I can put down some roots. I lived in Salt Lake City after graduating from the College of Eastern Utah (1989). I went to the University of Utah, did some plays, a few movies and then settled into a non-theatre job. Go figure. I eventually was hired with The Williams Companies (Tulsa based company) and after seven years of employment with them, they had a major layoff. I did receive a healthy severance package and that allowed me to move to Seatt...Expand for more
le. Seattle was always somewhere I always wanted to live but had never been. Currently, I'm single - and I am really enjoying life. SCHOOL Wow...Carbon High School. Seems like such a long time ago. High School is a blur but from what I remember...I wouldn't want to do it over again. Mr. Scott was my most inspiring teacher. I would have not come out of my shell if I hadn't taken his Drama class. Anyone remember the "Do you like me?" skit? I think I can still recite it by heart. WORK I am a Senior Project Portfolio Manager for Wunderman Impact, which is one of the largest advertising agencies in Seattle. I work mostly on Microsoft and T-Mobile accounts. They are located in downtown Seattle across from REI. The view from my office is REI's forest and waterfall. :) Prior to that, I worked for a Merchandising Agency (BDA) and three great game companies; Cranium, WizKids and Xeko as a Production/Project Manager. I can't tell you how much fun it was to play games all day AND get paid. I have been to Asia (Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, and Japan) several times for my work which has been a real eye-opener. After the initial "culture shock", I really enjoy traveling there. The people are amazing and the culture is interesting and beautiful. The food, on the other hand, I will never get used to. ;-)
