Michael's Story
I attended Chatsworth High School 1973-1975, then moved to Springfield, IL where I attended & graduated from Springfield High School. I attended Evangel (College) University from 1977-1981, and graduated with a B.S. Degree in majoring in History. I enjoyed music both in high school and college and played football at Evangel as well as singing and playing drums in the college jazz band. A couple of years after graduating Evangel and a short stint working in D.C. on Capitol Hill, I decided to serve in the USMC, which I did with 3rd and 2nd Force Reconnaissance Companies, respectively. I also served in Desert Shield, Desert Storm, & Operation Provide Comfort with the 24th MEU(SOC) Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Cable) in 1991. I married my wife Susie in November 1989, and we have 4 children. After Gulf War 1, I received orders to San Diego to MCRD for Drill Instructor duty. Regional Police Academy, and then working at the Chula Vista Police Department. I remained in the USMCR until 1996, teaching at the Basic Reconnaissance Course at Coronado, CA. As a Police Officer at CVPD, I worked anti-gangs, was a firearms instructor, SWAT instructor, and was promoted to Detective on the Narcotics Team. After sustaining a career-ending injury at CVPD, I was medically retired in October 1999. I then chose a career in IT and have been working in that industry since, currently as an Engagement Manager. I still am involved with music, singing in our church choir, and occasionally soloing when asked. I reignited my enjoyment with horses, and I have worked gentling Mustangs, helping horses with people-problems, and I am a Header and Team Rope. We just moved outside of San Diego and now live in the rural town of Ramona, CA. We've moved recently, (May 22, 2022) to a small town outside of San Antonio, TX called Boerne (pronounced "bernie"). Loving living in Texas!!
