Michael's Story
After graduation from Tilghman, I moved to Tampa, went to college in the daytime and played music in a band at night. After many years and more college in Boston, I achieved a Masters Degree in Computer Science and worked for digital equipment Corp. and DOD where I became a T5F support engineer and worked on government military projects until I came down with Lupus. By this time I was married and had 3 kids. I lived in Tampa, Dallas, Boston, Tallahassee, Sarasota, Venice, St. George Island, Panama City and now living in Crystal River, Florida.. After coming down with Lupus, digital and the government decided it was best for me to be medically retired, so the retirement began. I have substitute taught in schools, started a restaurant for my kids so they could have a place to work while going to school and college, became an avid boater and beach bum, still like to play my drums/ music in various bands with the best one being Mulberry Republic for 8 1/2 years. I am a Mason and a Shriner and love volunteering, Besides having bad periods of being sick at times, I stay as active as possible. I was the Director & Promoter for the Under the Oaks Bluegrass Music Festival held in May and October here in Panama City at Under the Oaks Park on beautiful St. Andrews Bay. ounty took over the beneficiary of the festival from the Shriners and it has continued to grow and later became Blue Grass at the Beach. I have brought in talent from all over the US and Canada for this event until Hurricane Michael hit October 10th, 2018 and changed everything forever for Bay County and me. I moved shortly after that to Crystal River. I love to travel and do so a lot. I need a Kentucky fix several times a year, A Jamaica fix at least once a year to my house down there and a Nova Scotia fix once a year to clear my head. I love Arizona, but don't get to go out there much. My kids are all grown and turned out great. My son is a engineer for CSX railroad in Tallahassee, my oldest daughter is a surgical tech in Virginia Beach, my youngest daughter has her her own medical practice in Panama City and my step daughter was a nurse in Dallas, Texas, but now has moved to the area and is a nurse in Homossassa, Fl. I have 7 wonderful grandkids that are the JOY of my life. I believe I have done my job in life and now just sitting back in retirement, building trains out of riding mowers for kids to ride on, boating, fishing, camping, playing music and whatever else, waiting on life's journey to take me to the end, where I'll be skidding in sideways, totally worn out, shouting.... !!!!!!! What a Ride!!
