Michael's Story
Life
After graduating from Duncan High School, I went to OU and received my BS in Botany with minors in math, chem, zoology, and education. I attended OSU and received a MS in Botany and Plant Physiology. At the University of Minnesota, I obtain my Ph.D. in Plant Physiology and Biochemistry.
I worked in the area of Agricultural Biotechnology from 1974 to 1994. During this time, my research at the Monsanto Co. and Ciba-Geigy has helped transform US Agriculture. I and my research groups have developed soybean cloning and genetic transformation as well as corn genetic transformation. My research group at Ciba-Geigy was the first to develop a commercial genetic engineered insect resistant...Expand for more
corn product. Roundup resistant soybean is now being grown on over 75% of the soybean fields in the United States.
I am now retired from the Ag biotech industry and help my wife DiAnne keep her computers running in her CPA practice. My wife, DiAnne, and I currently live on a lake in Cary, NC and we enjoying sailing on our lake and we love going to the beautiful North Carolina beaches. We have recently purchased a Roadtrek motorhome and are enjoying the RV experience. Last month, Nov 2012, we visited the McDonald observatory in Fort Davis, TX, Big Bend National Park, South Padre Island, and had Thanksgiving in New Orleans. It was quite a trip! We are looking forward to more adventures.
