Michael's Story
In 1974, at age 10, 5th grade teacher, Ms. Carol Gordon taught us to be confident, stoic, curious, adventurous, inquisitive, lifetime learning, mindful, and know your purpose and meaning in life. And, with that, you have all the tools you need to be successful in life. Words that everyone should know and follow in whatever path they follow in life.
Many thanks, Ms. Gordon for that excellent lesson, which most of us remember and are still applying successfully today. A personal note: Ms. Gordon: Your 1974-76 students, fondly remember you and wish you the very best in your retirement years! Thanks for being a superb and outstanding teacher. --Michael Cassidy, 1974-76
Words of Inspiration: "A man walked to the top of a hill to talk to God. The man asked, “God, what’s a million years to you?” and God said, “A minute.” Then the man asked, “Well, what’s a million dollars to you?” and God said, “A penny.” Then the man asked, “God…..can I have a penny?” and God said, “Sure…..in a minute.” LOL :-)))
Once upon a time in the 1950s, there was an elderly gentleman, who was broke, living in a tiny house and owned a beat up car. He was living off of $99 monthly social security checks. At 65-years of age, he decided things had to change. So, he thought about what he had to offer. His friends raved about his chicken recipe. He decided that this was his best shot at making a change. He left Kentucky and traveled to different states to try to sel...Expand for more
l his recipe. He told restaurant owners that he had a mouth-watering chicken recipe. He offered the recipe to them for Free, and asked for only a small percentage profit on the items sold. Sounds like a good deal, right? Unfortunately, not to most of the restaurant owners. Colonel Sanders heard NO over and over again 1000 times. Even after all of those sales declinations, he never gave up! He believed his chicken recipe was something so special that there would be huge public demand for it. Then, on his 1009th sales pitch he found Success, he got his first YES from a restaurant owner, and was given his first opportunity to market and sell his recipe! With that one little success, Colonel Hartland Sanders became a multi-millionaire and changed the fast food industry in America in the 1950s and still to this day. His company, Kentucky Fried Chicken, popularly known as KFC, became a monumental success and is now part of the multi-billion dollar Pepsi Co. conglomerate.
The moral of the story: never give up and always believe in yourself in spite of any adversities in your life! If you believe in yourself, you can accomplish anything in life! Trust me, my friend, you can, too!
Best wishes always,
Michael Cassidy
