Michael's Story

Life (contact: michael(dot)manzano(at)gmail(dot)com)I left Bellevue in 1994, never to return... at least I thought. I started a brand new life in San Diego. What can I say? I was never "over" with the kids in High School. I wasn't exactly a 'together' kid. There, I lived the life I never imagined existed, and re-established myself as Michael Manzano. Suffice to say, I am not anything like you remember me. So if any of you are brave enough to contact me, you are essentially getting to know me for the first time. At the moment, I am living in Los Angeles. Moving to California was the best thing for my life, as I've had hundreds of adventures over the past decade. I visited Bellevue for the first time in 12 years for the reunion. It was amazing. So much, that on 8/1/06 I changed my name back to Michael Castillio. I have found my smile, and in life, that's all that really matters. Where am I going? Who knows. I really hate LA, but my options are open. And, yes, Nebraska is at the top of the list somewhere. School I hated Bellevue East. I did have a few good moments in JROTC with Randall Wanamaker and Eric Sjoberg (throw in Chantelle Button and Anne Gibson to make it a little more interesting). But, I would have to dig through a lot of somber memories of Bellevue East before I can find any memory to really cherish. I did have a good time in Chorus, with Mrs. Simons-Bester. It was some of the most fun I've had there. I had a little bit of a better time at Central High. But I wasn't there long enough to really create a foundation. Life really meant something when I turned 18. The wild adolescent life that I never had happened after that, and that's where the real stories begin for me. Better yet, there are stories in my life that...Expand for more
are developing as we speak. College Jesus, I have so many damn units, but it wasn't until now when I really decided to pick a major. Still, I have to take this course, and that course before I get my damn degree. (Blame it on suspended adolescence, which I just barely got over.) Nonetheless, College was the place where I lived the life I didn't have in High School. All the experimenting and all the awakenings, all the exploration. That's where it was at for me. I'm still gonna be there for awhile, so hit me up with this one. I have a million stories, and not enough space here to tell them. I should have had a degree by now, but junior college politics made it difficult for me to earn it. Oh well. I don't feel like finishing college in Los Angeles anyways. What can I say? My favorite thing to do in life is to live it. I'm bad with schedules. Workplace They really need to make a category for nightlife, because that's where it gets interesting with me. I mean, I'm taking my education seriously nowadays. But between 18 and 23 years old, living the nightlife was priority one. I found a clever way to make money out of that, believe it or not. First off, whoever said you HAD to have a degree to have a career is full of s***. I had a great run in San Diego as a musician and a night club DJ. It gave me a reputation that I never had in High School. And, I did have a lot of day jobs aside from the gigs. But, the good times never ended until I retired. Sure, I had a lot of odd jobs. But, I made good money. Too bad I didn't invest well. I did settle down in the past few years, though. I'm a hairstylist, and just earned my cosmetology license in April of 2006. Life gets better every day doing what you love for a living.
