Michael Clifford:  

I served 20 years on active duty with the United States Army. I initially enlisted as an enlisted military policeman during Vietnam. In 1977, I was accepted as a federal agent with the US Army Criminal Investigation Command. In 1978, after graduating the special agent course, I was transferred to Fort Leonard Wood, MO where I would meet Joyce E. Wickiser. We would marry in June, 1980 and for the next 14 years, I would drag her around the world. Shawn, our eldest, was born at the Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany and Ryan, our youngest, was born at Ireland Army Hospital, Fort Knox. In 1982, I received a direct appointment as a Warrant Officer One (WO1) and would later retired as Chief Warrant Officer Three (CW3). During my military career, I graduated with an associates, bachelors and masters degrees in Criminology and Public Administration. In November, 2007, I accepted employment as an intelligence contractor for the Department of Defense and sent to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). On Easter Sunday 2008, I sustained a serious spine injuries during a mortar attack on Camp Bucca, Un Kasr, Iraq. In June, 2009, I secured work as a supervision specialist with G4S Justice Services, Inc. On 11/20/2009, I was laid off from this position when the company failed to win a contract with the Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE). On 12/21/2009, I was hired as the Chair of Criminal Justice & Homeland Security Departments at Colorado Technical University. In all my dreams, I never saw myself as a college professor, much less running college programs. On 12/30/2011, I lost this position as part of a corporate layoff.
