Michael's Story
Life
Well I graduated from DNHS in June of '01, shortly after graduation I moved to Yoncalla, OR and live with my aunt and uncle and commuted down to Roseburg, OR. When I moved from Crescent City to Yoncalla, I transferred my job with Wal-Mart to the Roseburg store. So I would commute daily from the north down to Roseburg which is about 35 miles one way. After a couple of years there at the Roseburg store and a couple of promotions later I attended ASM (Assistant Manager) Training in the Grants Pass Supercenter for 17 weeks. they moved back to Roseburg, and I continued to work and live in Vegas. In January of '07 I left the company, and joined the US Navy. I left for boot camp February 20, 2007, which was 9 weeks long. I arrived in Groton, CT on April 15, 2007, for training in SCEF (Submarine Computer Electronics Field). While I was there I ended up going through 4 Navy schools for my rate (job/mos). On January 25, 2008, my classmates and I were completed with all of our training, and shipped out to our new duty stations. I permanent duty station for the next several years is Pearl Harbor, HI.
