Michael's Story
Life here on the other side of the world,
I was born a poor boy...and I'm still poor. Ha,ha,ha what a biography!! All too true, I guess. I was married to Ella for a whole bunch of years (27) before she went on before us. We had 5 kids - two gals and three guys. I have lost count of all the grandkids and great grandkids I now have. After Chinle High school, Jim Lowe, Deano Descheeny, Eddie Brown, Wilson Tso, Larry Spigner, Ervin Tsinnajinnie and I went to school at Arizona Western College, Yuma. Later I attended Fort Lewis College, Durango with Wilson Tsosie and Bert Gorman. Later I went to school in Chicago (DeVry University) - Wilson Tso also went to another school in Chicago at that time. I am not single anymore. I am now living here in Chongqing, China and married to a beautiful Chinese Lady. Just kicking back and enjoying myself. I turned 66 years of age and I don't feel that old. My heart is still young and full of life. Sure would like to hear more from my dear classmates of long ago Chinle High School. No time for rocking chairs yey!!
(UPDATE--November 8, 2013) It's been three ...Expand for more
years now since I landed here in China. I went back to the REZ for a visit a year ago...my,my,..how time flies when you are having fun!! I worked in Beibei (a suburb/district of Chongqing City as a Calculus and Advanced Physics teacher at the Southwestern University there for a year. I am thinking of going to Shenzhen, China which is just across the waters from Hong Kong...and teaching English there for a year or so...we'll see what transpires as life unfolds..
Chongqing is a megacity of 74 million Chinese souls!!! It is uniquely a city and a province at the same time. It is a city of skyscrapers and the city is about 170 miles in diameter!! Two major rivers run through the city - The Yangzte and Jialing and meet in the center. I live in the Shapingba District near The Three Gorges Square and near the Shimen Bridge.
I miss the fried bread and mutton here. Eating a lot of rice morning, noon and evening.
Keep you people updated....We will be moving into a larger house when we finish with the finances of buying it - procedures here in China are somewhat different than in the States.
