Michael's Story
Life
I left the University at Buffalo in 1994, and enlisted in the Navy in 1995. I am now an Aviation Electronics Technician First Class (Air Warfare/Surface Warfare). I've made 4 deployments and seen action in the Persian Gulf. I've visited every continent except Antarctica and have completely circumnavigated the world. I'm currently living in Norfolk VA, I'm married, and have two sons, Michael and Andrew and a new baby daughter Lauren. Life is good!

I enlisted in the US Navy in 1995 and reported to Great Lakes in August. Then I attended AT "A" school at NATTC Millington, TN. After graduation I was advanced to AT3. Then I went to TMV school at NAMTRA Cecil Field in Jacksonville. I reported to AIMD Oceana in September 1996 as a SeaOpDet technician. I started doing workups on USS JOHN F. KENNEDY but got switched to USS KITTY HAWK which was already halfway through her WestPac deployment. I finished that cruise and then started workups for the USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER. ation and was advanced to AT2 as I left for the 1998 Med/Gulf deployment aboard IKE. I re-enlisted for another 6 years while on deployment, then returned home to attend RADCOM school at Oceana. I started workups for the IKE's 2000 deployment and did that cruise too. I transferred to shore duty at AIMD Oceana and moved to the F/A-18 radar shop. In December 2001 I was advanced to AT1 and became the night supervisor for 63D. In October 2002, I was promoted to Leading Petty Officer of the RADCOM shop. In November 2003, I returned to sea duty aboard USS GEORGE WASHINGTON. I served as the 64F VANS Leading Petty Officer. I left on another 6 month deployment to the Med and Gulf in January 2004. I earned my ESWS qualification in May. We returned from cruise in July, and went into the shipyards at Newport News for a year. After the yard period, we started workups for a two month cruise to the Caribbean Sea in the summer of 2006. In February 2007 I reported to CNATTU Oceana in Virginia Beach as a CASS Instructor.
