After high school, I started working fulltime in the floor covering industry where I started back in the summer of 1978 as an installers assistant. I continued to work weekends, summers and the occasional school holidays all through high school. I had learned enough by age 20 to go on my own and have been self employed ever since .I also perform demolition and have ran a series of dump trucks , yes tonka trucks,since 1984 . Ive stayed active in the sport of wrestling and was given the opportunity to coach at WHS from the fall of 1981 until March 2008.I still entered competitions until the age of 43 and are still planning to compete this year in May. Ive had 2 long term relationships in my life . I stayed with my high school sweetheart Patti, from 1979 to 1986 . Then I dated Marilyn off and on from 1986 to 1992. Out of respect for them both , I find no need to give the sordid details .I still care for the 2 of them and they both had an impact on my life "good and bad" Sadly enough I never hear from either of them , but I still consider them dear to me nevertheless. I must say however , that Ive been for the most part, alone ever since. I have a 14 year old son named Nicholas James, with a lady that I had a brief romance with .It was a miracle for her, having been told at the age 20 that she would never be able to have children.Unfortunately, I spent the next 12 years in and out of family court fighting to keep my rights as a father.108 times in court ,$ 200,000 in legal fees , finally resulting in my getting full custody of him Nov of 2007. He now attends Servite High School as a freshman , and is excelling at football , wrestling and ofcourse academics. Hes really big for his age, and is such a gentleman, a very sweet and kind young man. As for me , Ive lived in the same house for almost 24 years. I still hit the gym about 4 days per week.Still living in Westminster and Im now coaching for Servite. It costs alot to send him there , but its one of the best educations in the country.Ive always sent him to private school.As soon as he is in college and settled, I plan to build a house with some acrerage somewhere in AZ or New Mexico, pay cash for it and semi retire . As long as theres a gym not to far away, a place for me to fish and hunt ,to raise horses and farm animals, and hopefully a school or college that I can continue coaching wrestling at. The sport has been very good to me. I got into Jui Jitsui in 1995 and have won every tournement that Ive ever entered." You mean I get to choke guys and make them submit?" Oh what fun this has been.You dont get penalized for stalling .Perfect for a heavyweight. Just take your time, apply brute force, and watch them kick and squirm till they give up .My greatest vitory came in 2001 when I won the CA. state championship at age 38 . The oldest man to ever accomplish this feat.The real fun came at the hands of the other opponents who going into the superfight round , had never lost a match.Until that day ha ha .
