Michael's Story
Life
Well, after graduating I went to PCC, College of Idaho, and Calif Western Univ in San Diego before finally entering the Air Force in 64. I spent 13 mos in Korea and 2 1/2 years in Germany and after being discharged returned to California where I met my wife, LaVonne..We were married after dating 4 months and I finally returned to school in 1970 at East Los Angeles College and then receiving my BA in Economics from Long Beach State....
Wanting to be a teacher was a goal, but due to Prop 13 found it difficult to continue for a credential, and remained in the retail industry until 2002. While in retail managment I was transferred numerous times to various stores in Southern Calif and then beginning in 1993 spent 4 years in New Mexico, then to Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and back to Arkansas, and finally ending up in Wickenburg, AZ in 2001.
I finally got into teaching, doing substituting in the Wickenburg, Congress, and Glendale AZ school districts for two years, and then got a chance to teach full time at Coolidge High School (near Casa Grande) at mid-term, fall 2004, as an Algebra teacher (of all things) That was a 250 mile round trip communte 5 days a week!...guess that Econ degree finally helped...Communted almost 6 hours per day to school, and will be relocating to the Chandler area to cut drive down. Will now be teaching Economics/Free Enterprise, Remedial Reading and Business Math at the "Success Center" (alternative high school) starting this school year.
I also got involved in joining a Scottish Pipe & Drum Band in the Phoenix area, where we have members ranging from 9 to 77 in age. Now I play tenor drum and also drum major for the Tempe AZ Police Depts Pipes and Drums (all civilian volunteers).
I have 2 children, Greg (26) and Shannon (24), with Greg planning on finishing his BS in Politcal Science at ASU and Shannon, having recently graduated from the Fashion Institute in L.A. (AA) and now planning on a BS in Communication from Northern Ariz Univ.

n History. He's planning on attending grad school, probably U of Oregon in Environmental Studies and Policies and concurrently getting a MA and either a MPA or JD degree to use in an environmental setting.
After 36 plus years of marriage, now seperated, but through no fault of anyone, just that "people change" over time, and I changed....so, actually best to do was seperate....My wife was/is a wonderful person, but I felt she was actually going to be better off considering the current situation....
Well, still alive and well in Phoenix AZ. Change in Greg's schooling as now he is FINALLY back in school full time after about 2 years at Gilbert/Chandler College where he earned an Phi Theta Kappa Honor Societly membership with a 3.73 gpa and now is attending Black Hills State Univerisity in beautiful Spearfish SD as a History major Poli Sci minor.
Even I decided to go back to school this past 2009-10 school year to work on a Masters in Education for School Career Guidance Counseling...been a lot of work but hey 2 B's and 8 A's ain't too bad. Should finish it up by Xmas 2010. I just wrote (June '10) a proposal for a Masters research project titled "Firewater: Scourge of the North American Indian; the Arguement for Allowing the Sale of Alcohol on the Pine Ridge Reservation." We'll see what happens in that regard.
Living with a wonderful girl who has made a big difference for me. She also does my proofreading on my research papers of which there are many.
Rescued a Lab/Austrailian Heeler mix and she's a doll and very protective of us, along with 2 cats that were also rescued.
Went to Scotland in Aug 09 for a week to attend the Edinburgh International Festival and the Military Tattoo. Friendly people and great wine and beer....NO, didn't eat any Haggis.
Have been on PD Dialysis now for 2+ years with ESRD, and Diane is now by caregiver and of course BFF and probably would have died without her and the Southwest Kidney Insitute here in Surprise, AZ., Dialysis is a 10 hour per day 7 days a week, but we do it at night time so the days are pretty much free for us to even travel.
