Michael's Story
Life
I guess I can honestly say that if I were to die tomorrow, I would have had a very interesting life, and "interesting" is important to me. One of the things I've found out about myself is that I tolerate pain & fear a whole lot better than I do boredom. I was a news reporter for 6 years, doing science writing for some of them, and was lucky enough to get on a NASA tour of the USSR when that country was still around. I met Leonid Brezhnev and Deke Slayton (one of the original astronauts), and went as far east as Siberia. As a reporter I got to cover murder, mayhem, individual heroism, police corruption and met some interesting and surprising people along the way. I also spent 22 years at AT&T in PR, and had 2 Nobel laureats as my clients and got to launch an Internet service and announce the world's first digital optical computer (which never went anywhere). I bailed out of AT&T 4 years ago with a nice package, started my own Internet company and sadly watched it tank! No...Expand for more
pe, life has not been easy, and I haven't accomplished as much as I would have liked to (I am one of the most widely UNpublished authors I know), but I've gotten more than I bargained for and have been vastly entertained along the way. I've also been blessed with a great family (my wife, Jane, and I have 2 kids who are as confused as I occasionally have been but seem to be enjoying themselves, too), and a lovely place in the NJ countryside (for all of you who only know NJ from Newark Airport and The Sopranos, the place does have some great locales). Anyway, I've never been good at making money, which is kind of an issue right now, and there are various other shortcomings that I'd like to remedy. But whether I do or not is really not the point. For me, life's like a movie, measured not by the reviews but by the experience each of us has as we move through it. If you'd like to jump into my flick (again and nearly 40 years later), please drop me a line. I'd love to hear from you.
