Michael's Story
Life
Born in Paduch, KY. Attended McKinley Elementary, Franklin Jr. High (its last year), Jetton Jr. High, and graduated Tilghman H.S.1969. Spent two years and obtained Assoc.Science Degree at Paducah Community College in 1971 and was part of one of top 5 national community college debate teams in 1970-71; transferred to Univ. of Kentucky in Lexington. Received B.A. in Education in 1973 and returned to expand major in 1974. In those days, I always wore glasses.
I took my first full-time job and taught at Miami (FL) Killian HS 74-75, mostly 10th grade English classes and drama. I then returned to Univ. of Kentucky and obtained law degree in 1978.
I married a Lexington native (Donna) in 1977. I was offered first lawyer job in Homestead, Florida, and we moved there. Shortly thereafter, I started work as a prosecutor under State Attorney Janet Reno in Miami where I eventually specialized in economic crime, fraud, and racketeering prosecutions.

Before retiring in early 2014, I was the chief attorney (General Counsel) for Florida's equivalent to the FBI, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). I supervised 14 other attorneys and was a legislative lobbyist for FDLE. I currently pick up occasional consultant work, but am primarily "retired."
Donna and I make it back to Paducah or Lexington, Kentucky two or so times a year. My brother lives in Ocala, Florida. My parents moved to Tallahassee for their final years, and have since died.
I still enjoy singing and drama, reading and learning. I teach a Bible study class at our church. I am a regular presenter at legal training venues.
We have two dogs: a Westie and a Cairne Terrier ("Toto" was a Cairne), and one outside cat has adopted us.
Donna and I hope to return to enjoying outdoor options in Florida (such as fishing) as our life as "empty nesters." Donna's Mom lived here until her death in late 2013.
