Michael's Story
Life
Greetings to all friends, enemies, and acquaintances! As for my life, I married a beautiful woman named Michelle in August 2003 (during the Great Blackout). We live in Grand Blanc, just on the (Oakland/Genesee) County border. After four years of swing and salsa dancing, which included trips all over the country, a commercial on WDIV (Channel 4) back in 1999, and a two-year stint at Windsor, Ontario's favorite instructor, I've hung up my dance shoes, at least for the time being. Still working for the federal government, and my wife and I are expecting our first child February 13, 2006!
(UPDATE) My wife and I were expecting our first child on February 13, but apparently the baby had other ideas! Marcus Alexander Simon came into our lives January 17, 2006. After a lovely stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, we will finally be bringing him home January 30!
School
Best of both worlds? Who knows. I did six years of public school and six of parochial school, and am I a better person because of it? Doubtful. High school wasn't a bad experience, nor was it a good experience. It was just...there. I can reminisce about just...Expand for more
as many fond memories as much as memories I'd like to forget. But that's no different than anyone else.
College
I used to say (and still will) that no matter what, for better or for worse, EVERYONE changes after high school. I'm no exception. But to the core, I was the same person. The funny thing is, the same qualities that made me a pariah in high school, made me fairly popular in college. Student Body President, Sigma Pi Fraternity, etc.; I had a pretty good college experience.
Workplace
You can't say I'm not loyal. I spent so long working for National Amusements that, to this day, people STILL recognize me from the movie theater. That means either I made some sort of impact, or I was just always there. I'm sure it was the latter. Well, as much as I enjoyed my six years and three theaters, it doesn't even begin to compare with my current job. For almost 10 years, I have been an assistant to a U.S. Congressman, assisting people of all walks of life with every problem under the sun. I love what I do and who I work for, and although I never dreamed I'd be doing something like this, now I can't dream of doing anything else.
