Michael's Story
Played a little college baseball at Emporia State.
Got to try out for the Pitsburg Pirates in 68 and 69. got a try out with the dodgers in 69
Worked at the meat packing plant in Emporia for a year (what a job)
spent four years in the Navy as a /corpsman in Great Lakes, Illinois. Spent one year as a corpsman for the Marines in the eastern part of the world
Took Paramedic training at KU Medical Center in 1977.
Finished my BS at Baker (Baldwin) in 87
Worked in Lawrence from 1978 to 1989
retired after 30 years in Emergency Medical Service
Started the EMS System for Mia...Expand for more
mi County 8/89 and ran the service until my retirement Feb. 06
Performed Death Investigations 2001 to 2006
Assisttant Emergency Manager 2000 to 2006
Currently working part time as Assistant Emer. Mngr
for Miami County
**I WAS NOT ON THE PEORIA FROM 73 TO 77. I WAS ON THE PEORIA AS TEMP DUTY WHILE A CORPSMAN WITH THE 3RD MARINE DIV. I WAS ON BOARD FOR ABOUT THREE MONTHS IN 77.
Performing death Investigations for the 6th kansas judicial district was quite an experience. Myself and one other person perfromed an average of 50 per year. Saw some pretty outrageous stuff.
